About Me

I am Kari and I am a freelance choir director and vocal coach. I believe that we all feel better from a bit of singing and that this is amplified beyond all reason when we get together and sing in groups.

I graduated from Middlesex University with a Performance Art degree in music and technical theatre some years ago. After a period of time working to edit commercials for television, I went on to complete a psychology degree with the Open University and moved into a career in primary school teaching. As a specialist music teacher, I ran five different school choirs for junior school children and began a community choir for the parents. And so it began.

I left teaching in 2017 to devote my time to choirs and singing full time. Operating out of West Bridgford in Nottingham I now run a hugely successful community choir, as well as several smaller choirs (a group I teach in my home, a student choir for the University of Nottingham and a pop up choir facility, again, in West Bridgford). I run workshops where we can explore one song in great detail and teach private singing lessons at home. Additionally to this, I am available for work place singing in the forms of either workshops or regular choir rehearsals.

I believe that everyone can sing and that we can all learn and make improvements to our vocal sound. I teach singing in a way which I aim to be accessible for everyone. All my harmony parts are taught by ear and fully supported online through my facebook pages/groups. Most of all, I deliver confidence to singers who might lack it through my informal teaching methods and great sense of fun.
